November Events in Our Neighborhood

Bundle up and come on out of that house! There are too many fun things to do this month to be caught sitting at home staring at your walls. TiVo your favorite show, and come downtown to enjoy a concert, a movie or a fun day at our local market! This month don't forget to pick up your stylish re-usable sack, learn how to brine and roast your turkey and cheer on Ohio State!!

November 11th- 7:00PM- Dakshina Ensemble featuring Kadri Gopalnath and Rudresh Mahanthappa- One of the many fascinating events offered by the Wexner Center this month, these fabulous musicians enchant audiences with their Indian influenced jazz. A post-bop style ensemble serenades audiences this month with the sounds of double-reed instruments, guitars, violins, electric sitars and saxophones. November 17th, 2007- Eco-Friendly grocery sack Give-Away- North Market- Getting ready for Thanksgiving can be a chore. But the North Market certainly can make it fun! Come down to this local market and get your goodies to make your holidays great. While you are there, replace your ugly, commonplace, plastic grocery bags with new, re-usable grocery sacks! The Jeffrey Place staff will be handing out these bags for a donation of $1 (or more if you would like) to the Children's Hunger Alliance. 100% of our proceeds will go to this deserving organization to help them with their holiday needs. We at Jeffrey Place are trying to do our part to help our Earth and our Community. Come on out and join us! Don't miss these stylish, eco-friendly bags- and your chance to help make everyone's holiday a great one!!

November 1st- November 17th, 2007- The Trojan Women 2.0- The Ohio State University Theatre- See this famous play by Euripides, performed by the local and fabulous OSU thespians. This famed work of art features a world reduced to disarray and anguish. Come see why Euripides is considered the master of tragedy. November 17th- 3:30pm- OSU takes on the University of Michigan in the Big House. Enough Said.

November 18th, 2007- (and throughout November)- Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Detroit Red Wings- It's Ohio vs. Michigan month as our hometown team takes on the Detroit Red Wings. November 29, 2007- December 2, 2007- Columbus International Children's Film Festival- Expand your horizons and that of your family! Introduce your kids to other parts of the world in one of their favorite mediums- film! The featured movies at this family friendly festival introduce experiences, concerns and  languages from around the world. Throughout November- 8:00AM- 5:00PM- Columbus ReWired- Interested in mass transit? Wondering what potential a growing city like Columbus has for public transportation? Check out the entries in the AIA Columbus sponsored competition. Candidates were asked to think "critically and respond to general conditions and potentials for Columbus' mass transit systems." the competition was juried in September by local and national professionals and winners and other selected entries are now on display in the Banyard Gallery in Knowlton Hall on Ohio State's campus (at 275 W. Woodruff Ave.) Check out these innovative ideas and see what direction Columbus could be heading in in our future!

December 1st, 2007- Gallery Hop- Short North- It's not technically in November- but we wouldn't want you to miss one of the best gallery hop's of the year! The December gallery hop is the perfect time to pick up unique gifts for your loved ones, and celebrate the end of another great year! Bundle up, and bring your friends and family downtown to enjoy the winter wonderland of High Street. The local businesses will be participating in a storefront decorating contest- so come see the fantastic and creative designs this artistic community comes up with!

Join the Jeffrey Place staff at the Huntington storefront for a fantastic display, free food and free wine! Stop by for some scrumptious hors d'oeuvres on your way to dine at one of the fabulous establishments in the Short North. Or swing by for some wine to keep you warm as you window shop.
